Sometimes the universe puts the perfect thing in your path — even if it’s got a gaping hole in it.

Amanda and I were poking around the Goodwill Outlet in Calgary (aka: the treasure hunters’ arena), when she spotted it first — a genuine Hudson’s Bay Company cotton knit blanket. Thick. Cozy. Iconic. Her eyes lit up… until she saw the damage. A section of dropped stitches, a broken bind-off, and a few threads dangling in despair.

The “before” shot — dropped stitches galore and a broken bind-off, but I saw potential 🧶

She looked at me, disappointed, and said, “Aw, too bad. I love it — but it’s ruined.”

Ruined?? Absolutely not.

I said, “I got this.” And I meant it.

Dropped stitches? That’s just a puzzle I haven’t solved yet.

Broken edge? I’ve got yarn and I’m not afraid to use it.

Fix it tonight? You bet.

And that’s exactly what I did. A little patience, some tassel yarn, and a trusty hook later, those sad loops got wrangled back into line. No, it’s not flawless. But it’s solid, secure, and more than good enough — as the ubiquitous “they” say, “good enough for government work.” 😏

Back in one piece! Not perfect — but strong and snug again.

The best part? Amanda is thrilled. For the grand total of $5–6, she now has a discontinued Hudson’s Bay blanket that she loves — one that’ll last for years and carry a story with every snuggle.

Repaired, refreshed, and ready for snuggles. Amanda is so happy 🤍💚🤍💛🤍❤️🤍💙🤍

From bin to beloved; just needed a little love and skill.
