Sometimes the universe puts the perfect thing in your path โ even if itโs got a gaping hole in it.
Amanda and I were poking around the Goodwill Outlet in Calgary (aka: the treasure huntersโ arena), when she spotted it first โ a genuine Hudsonโs Bay Company cotton knit blanket. Thick. Cozy. Iconic. Her eyes lit upโฆ until she saw the damage. A section of dropped stitches, a broken bind-off, and a few threads dangling in despair.

She looked at me, disappointed, and said, โAw, too bad. I love it โ but itโs ruined.โ
Ruined?? Absolutely not.
I said, โI got this.โ And I meant it.
Dropped stitches? Thatโs just a puzzle I havenโt solved yet.

Broken edge? Iโve got yarn and Iโm not afraid to use it.
Fix it tonight? You bet.
And thatโs exactly what I did. A little patience, some tassel yarn, and a trusty hook later, those sad loops got wrangled back into line. No, itโs not flawless. But itโs solid, secure, and more than good enough โ as the ubiquitous โtheyโ say, โgood enough for government work.โ ๐

The best part? Amanda is thrilled. For the grand total of $5โ6, she now has a discontinued Hudsonโs Bay blanket that she loves โ one thatโll last for years and carry a story with every snuggle.

From bin to beloved; just needed a little love and skill.
