Since he was born, Ace has never had his hair cut — his dad is adamant about it. So his mom makes sure his hair is always styled whenever they go out. Like any kid, Ace isn’t a fan of combing out the knots, but he knows that this is the way. Gel helps keep his natural curls somewhat tamed — at least until he starts running, climbing, and playing!

Lately, Amanda has been practicing her braiding skills. When Ace was younger, he’d nap long enough for her to get a few simple cornrows in. Now that he’s older, it takes some bribery to get him to sit still — but the promise of “no combing” with braids is a pretty strong incentive, lol. He also keeps his durag on better while sleeping, which means the braids last longer.
This last set was Amanda’s best yet — she did an amazing job!

And when she finally undid the braids, Ace was absolutely fascinated. He shook his head, ran around the room, and exclaimed, “I can feel the wind in my hair!” Reveling in the new sensation, his joy was as free as his curls.
